It's worth mentioning that General Parking is FREE at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. If two or more people are heading to LVMS for the NHRA Nevada Nationals, renting a car will be a cheaper alternative than riding the shuttle.
If you plan to take the car rental route during the NHRA Nevada Nationals, here are a few things to keep in mind.
1. Most Las Vegas hotels do charge for parking. Check first with your hotel for any parking fees.
2. If you plan to park at the LVMS, you will need to get there as early as possible to avoid traffic. Also expect traffic when leaving the Speedway after the race.
3. After you park, make a note of where you parked your car. Write down the lot number, take a photo and note the route you walked from your car to the venue. (trust me, you will need this information after the event.)
There are two ways to get to LVMS from the Strip and downtown area. You can take the I-15 or Las Vegas Blvd. The largest parking lots with easiest access are on the north side of the Speedway (Blue Lot) and are easily accessible via I-15. Additional parking is located on the west and south sides (Brown Lot), accessible via Las Vegas Blvd.
Taking the I-15
Take I-15 North to exit 54 (Speedway Blvd). As you approach exit 54 on the I-15, there are 3 northbound lanes towards Las Vega Motor Speedway, pick the one with the least amount of cars all the way to Exit 54. Once on the exit 54 ramp, use the far-left lane or the center lane to travel straight across Speedway Blvd into Blue Lot.
Hint - Vehicles in the shoulder lane will be checked for parking passes at the end of the ramp. If you do not have a parking pass, use the center lane or left-hand lane.
Taking Las Vegas Blvd
Take Las Vegas Blvd north to Entry #1 for access into Red lot or Entry #3 for access into Brown Lot.
