Using your RTC-issued Reduced Fare I.D.
Effective March 4, 2019, customers using their RTC-issued Reduced Fare I.D., Veterans I.D. or Mobility Trained I.D to ride RTC fixed route will be asked to tap the card on the electronic validator, which is located on the pole right inside the front door of the bus.
There is now a three steps process customers with Reduced Fare I.D. must follow when boarding.
1 Show the bus driver your RTC-issued I.D. card to prove eligibility for the reduced fare rate.
2 Swipe your pass to pay fare or insert money in to the farebox.
3 Tap your RTC-issued I.D. card on the electronic validator.
If your I.D. card is linked to your account on the rideRTC app, bypass Step 1 (showing the bus driver your I.D.) Instead, just scan your phone on the validator to pay the fare.
